FREE: New York Philharmonic Brass and University of Michigan Marching Band

Hi all,

You are invited to a free open rehearsal Friday night (10/9/15) to watch the Michigan Marching Band perform a dress rehearsal of the “Musical Legends Unite:  Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic Brass Live at the Big House” halftime show planned for the October 10 game vs. Northwestern.  The show will be an historic collaboration between the School of Music, Theatre & Dance, University Musical Society and the New York Philharmonic.  The Michigan Alumni Band will also participate in the halftime show.

Parking will be available in University Lots SC-4, SC-5, SC-6 and SC-7 without a fee.  Additional lots will be available after 5:00 p.m.  Pioneer High School will NOT have parking available.

Rehearsal Schedule:

4:30 – Stadium gates open to the public
5:00 – UMS Choral Union sound check
5:10 – NY Philharmonic sound check
5:15 – SMTD Brass sound check on field
5:20 – Full Ensemble sound check
5:30 – “Carmen” and “NY Closer” rehearsal with Alan Gilbert
5:45 – “NY Opener” and “Bolero” rehearsal with John Pasquale and Andrea Brown
6:10 – SSB rehearsal (run through) with Alan Gilbert
6:25 – Alumni Band rehearsal and sound check (with
6:40 – Full performance run through (without New York players)
7:30 – Rehearsal Concludes

Also, the NY Phil will be performing this weekend in Ann Arbor Friday-Sunday with three different concert selections! If you would like to hear one of the top orchestras in the world, here is the site to see their concert selections on specific days and to purchase tickets.
