Greetings parents and students,
Do you have old instrument laying around collecting dust? Here’s how you can help a child right now.
With the economy the way it is in Michigan, we are finding that many students cannot afford to be in band, and the poverty level for Discovery and most schools has increased this year. With the combination of a diminishing economy and a lack of school funding students and families are finding it more difficult to afford an instrument in band. I truly believe that this is a problem we can fix in the short term at least.
By supporting our Play it Forward music instrument donation program , you will help empower those in your network to get the instruments out of their closets and into the hands of Canton youth.
The process is simple: Your family and Individuals from the community donate instruments to the Discovery MS band program, we collect the instruments and then work collaboratively with families in need to place them in the hands of our lowest income students. The Discovery MS Band will then offer you a tax receipt for your donation (based on the estimated price of the instrument) so that you can claim the instrument donation on your tax return. It’s a win-win!
