Calendar change (all) and Instrument Pickup Night (6th)

CALENDAR CHANGE: PCEP added a date to their calendar that now affects our band calendar as this creates a conflict for all 8th graders. Please see files on the Home page (www.discoverybands.org) to download and update your calendars. Thank you.

Beginning Band Parent meeting and Instrument Pickup Night: This is just a reminder about that we have our first band parent meeting starting at 6pm in the Band Room on Tuesday, 9/20. Following the meeting we will then move to acquire the instruments, music textbooks, and supplies through our preferred vendor, Marshall Music. If you already have an instrument, it is still important to attend the meeting and then you can pick up the music textbook and any needed supplies.

Your child does not have to attend this meeting but may if desired. After acquiring the instruments they will be moved promptly to your child’s band locker. If your child does not attend this meeting, please make sure to get their band locker number and combination so that you can put the instrument in their locker. It is important that the first time we open the instruments we do so together in class so that accidents with the instrument do not occur. It is imperative that every child has their instrument in working condition for Wednesday’s class.

Also, please bring a credit card/bank card or checkbook with you. For those needing an instrument, current industry rates for instruments per month are:

Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, and Trombone: $30 per month

Alto Sax and Baritone/Euphonium: $60 per month

For Baritone/Euphonium players, we have a few school-owned instruments we can utilize as well so please contact me or see me Tuesday night.

I look forward to seeing you all at the meeting and to begin a great year of Band!

6th grade families: Supplies for 6th graders can be picked up at the instrument pickup night on Tuesday, September 20, however for those who wish to get supplies earlier then I would recommend:

Harris Conservatory of Music (across from the PCCS Board Office)

445 S Harvey St, Plymouth, MI 48170

(734) 725-9926

Evola Music

7170 N Haggerty Rd, Canton, MI 48187

(734) 455-4677

I do not recommend these stores for instruments, just for supplies and lessons.
