This is a long email but please read all of the info below to make sure all are successful with this vital information.
Here is the breakdown for after-school rehearsals for all bands for Dec. 5, 6, 12, 13, 18 (with the concert on the Dec. 19th):
Tuesday, December 5th: 8th grade Band (Concert dress rehearsal in concert attire) until 5pm
Wednesday, December 6th: 7th grade Percussion only until 4:30pm
Tuesday, December 12th: 6th grade Band (Concert dress rehearsal in concert attire) until 5pm
Wednesday, December 13th: 7th grade Band (Concert dress rehearsal in concert attire) until 5pm
Monday, December 18th: ALL BANDS until 5pm (Dismissal time may vary for each band but 5pm at the latest.)
Concert: Tuesday, December 19th
Here are the report times for students for the Winter Concert. As a reminder, these report times/arriving on time are also part of the student’s grade. Here are the times:
–6th grade: Please be on the stage with instruments by 6:00pm. I will take attendance and do a concert attire inspection before our mini-rehearsal. Parents will wait in the hallway until 6:20pm. I want to make sure the 6th graders and parents have time to connect and experience their first concert with the older grades present. 6th grade families will be dismissed after their concert but I highly encourage you to stay for the 7th and 8th grade concert.
The 6th grade portion of the concert starts at 6:30pm.
–7th grade: Be ready to play and tuned in the band room by 6:55pm (not arriving at that time, but fully ready to play). I will rehearse with you, take attendance, and do a concert attire inspection. Make sure to warmup and tune.
–8th grade: Be ready to play and tuned in the band room by 7:10pm (not arriving at that time, but fully ready to play). After I am finished with 7th grade I will come to rehearse, take attendance, and do a concert attire inspection. Make sure to warmup and tune.
The 7th and 8th grade concert starts at 7:30pm.
Important Notes for 7th/8th grade families:
7th/8th grade students: Do not play in the hallway as this will disturb the 6th grade portion of the concert.
7th/8th grade Parents: Please do not enter the Auditeria until the 6th grade portion of the concert is finished. This is their first concert and as it was for your children the first concert for 6th graders will be without the older grades present.
Volunteer Chaperones: Please contact Aleasha Peck about meeting time and place. This is when we will discuss your responsibilities.
**For Concert Attire, I will again forward the email I sent on November 7 to everyone.
Students not meeting this dress code may not be allowed to perform and may have a reduction in grade.
As stated in the band handbook, please do not call the main office to find out about rehearsals or any band business. This happens way too frequently and this really ties up the office staff’s time and delays their efficiency to handle pertinent business (and sometimes urgent business) to answer questions that have already been answered by me. They often have to call me in the middle of class to ask these questions which interrupts our learning process. As always, please contact me directly for any band business.
